Artist's Statement
A burst of light (flash synchronized or not)
AND
WE ARE AWAKENED
OR
SHALL WE SAY, THE AWAKENING BEGINS !
Like it or not, we are rooted in the moment, yet sensitive to a
beckoning call that ignites the curiosity AND NECESSITY to know
and venture 'round the next corner.
Life, Birth, Travel, Relationships, Education . . .
right down to getting up in the morning - the cognitive processes are
interactively motivated by motion, a convergence of the Past, Present, and Future combined with the concept of 'moving on' - hopefully along a path involving growth combined with the excitement and potential of actualizing this grand mystery called 'The Near Future'.
Remember Art Catalyzes The Process !!
Once illuminated and started upon, our path soon brings us to the proverbial fork in the road. On one hand Reality / Realism offers us the security of that which is known. Plus (plus !) universality; i.e. something we can pretty much all agree on.
Perhaps a bit seductive, the alternative path (Who's Your Dada ?) can be a jump off the high dive - and into the deep end. Call it Abstract (imagine Photo Novelism) and a journey into the subconscious (which may include a segue to our pre-birth Reality). One that we will visit and revisit in semi-infinite quantity 'til "Death Do Us Part". Its beckon may summon us in a fashion completely independent of time, of geometric form, of light or sound - yet is through our five senses and the processing of feedback from every single cell of our human being that we seek to assemble its logic, and perhaps even meaning to our Life.
To wit: André Malraux, a trail blazer in the elucidation of The Great Mystery - " Art is a manifestation of what humanity is unable to see: the sacred, the supernatural, the unreal . . of that which they can see only through art.
Abstract / Photo Novelism or Realism ?
Will our 'rational mind' win the struggle to contain and
process logically . . . or can we let go, and be seduced by Raw Beauty?
The ecstasy is ours. To be continued . . . .
Galeria Horazio / Horace Kerr
B I O
Horace Kerr / Galeria Horazio resides in what is known as Colorado's 'Front Range'; i.e. at the convergence of The Great Plains and The Rocky Mountains. He has shown in a baker's dozen of galleries from southern New Mexico to Michigan. On a conscious level, he is rooted in the moment, yet remains vulnerable to the seduction of curiosity and necessity to know what lays 'round the next corner.
Consider his influences the lens and imagination of Stieglitz, the brush strokes of Remedios Varo (thus "Light Is A Photographer's Paintbrush"), and the written word of André Malraux.
While respecting Photo Journalism, he is tempted by the Abstract - Photo Novelism if you please. Will our 'rational mind' win the struggle to contain and process logically . . . or can we let go, and be seduced by Raw Beauty & Possibility? Galeria Horazio / Horace Kerr, camera in hand, remains humbled by the task.
